Covenanters Monument on Blacklaw Moor 

Blacklaw moor was of historical significance to the Covenanting movement in Scotland and a site for Covenanticles. 

What we know...

In the 1940s and 1950s miners used to walk over the Blacklaw moor to work at the pit.  A burn runs across the moor and they would often take off their socks and shoes to wash their feet.

One old miner was coming home after his shift and sat down on the bank to wash his feet and felt something hard in the ground. When he investigated further, he pulled out two Covenanters swords.  One was whole and one was broken.
